Turnkey means the production result is engineered as one system.
A complete robot cell coordinates more than robot movement. It must present the product consistently, grip it securely, complete the required path, exchange information with other equipment, protect operators and recover clearly when production stops.
The project boundary should be explicit. Oxford Industrial Automation defines what is supplied, what connects to the cell, what the customer provides and how performance will be tested.
Robot and tooling
Architecture, payload, reach, mounting, gripper, services, sensors and tool-change requirements.
Product flow
Fixtures, conveyors, feeders, pallets, format handling, accumulation and reject routes.
Controls and vision
PLC, HMI, robot code, recipes, diagnostics, identification, inspection and machine interfaces.
Safety and delivery
Safeguarding, access control, validation, build, trials, installation, training and handover.
What a complete robot-cell scope should define
| Production requirement | Products, variants, target output, quality checks, operating pattern and changeovers |
|---|---|
| Physical system | Robot, tooling, fixtures, conveyors, frames, guarding, access and utilities |
| Control system | Sequences, recipes, HMI, interfaces, data, alarms, recovery and access levels |
| Project delivery | Design reviews, trials, acceptance, installation, downtime, commissioning and training |
| Ownership boundaries | Customer supplies, third-party work, exclusions, assumptions and change control |
