Complete industrial robot systems for UK manufacturers

Articulated robot systems

Six-axis robot cells for flexible industrial automation.

Six-axis robots combine a wide working envelope with full tool orientation, making them a strong choice for complex handling paths, machine access and applications that demand movement around fixtures or equipment.

Specify the task before the robot model.

A productive six-axis robot cell begins with the part, process and required output. We assess the complete moving mass, centre of gravity, reach, access angles, cycle sequence and interaction with surrounding machinery before recommending a platform.

This application-first approach helps avoid a robot that looks suitable on payload alone but cannot achieve the required wrist orientation, path clearance or cycle time once the gripper, services and product are included.

Reach and access

Model the real approach path, obstructions, machine opening and wrist orientation rather than relying on a maximum reach figure.

Payload and inertia

Include the end effector, product, brackets, valves and dynamic loads in the complete wrist calculation.

Cycle and duty

Sequence every pick, place, dwell and machine handshake so the achievable production rate can be assessed.

Mounting and layout

Floor, wall, inverted or raised mounting can change the usable envelope, guarding footprint and maintenance access.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about this robot system

How do you calculate six-axis robot payload?

Payload must include the product, complete end effector, mounting plate, valves, sensors, cables and any dynamic effects. Centre of gravity and wrist moments can be as important as the headline mass.

Can a six-axis robot tend an existing machine?

Often, yes. We review access, guarding, door or chuck interfaces, part presentation, machine signals and safe recovery before defining the cell.

Can the robot be mounted overhead or on a wall?

Some platforms support alternative mounting arrangements. The chosen robot, base structure, working envelope and service routing must all be checked for the proposed orientation.

Do you supply the robot arm on its own?

This site is focused on complete industrial robot systems. Oxford Industrial Automation can assess the robot, tooling, controls, guarding, interfaces, installation and commissioning as one project.
