Complete industrial robot systems for UK manufacturers

End-of-line robot cells

Palletising robot systems engineered around your products and patterns.

Robotic palletising brings repeatable product handling to the end of a line. The complete cell must coordinate product infeed, orientation, gripping, layer patterns, pallet supply, guarding and completed-load removal.

A palletiser is an end-of-line system, not just a robot.

The robot is selected only after the heaviest product, gripper, reach, pallet height, infeed position and required cycle have been considered together. A four-axis palletising robot may be efficient for conventional layer building, while a six-axis platform can add orientation flexibility for more complex handling.

We also examine pallet handling, slip sheets, layer pads, product squaring, label orientation, operator access and the route for full pallets so the proposed cell works within the available production area.

Product and pack

Assess dimensions, mass, rigidity, porosity, surface, closures and how the pack behaves under acceleration.

Pallet pattern

Confirm pallet size, layer arrangement, interlocking, overhang limits, stack height and changeovers.

Infeed strategy

Control product spacing, orientation, buffering and line accumulation before the robot pick point.

Full-pallet flow

Plan pallet loading, discharge, wrapping interface, forklift access and operator interaction.

Palletising cell scope

Representative robot platforms extend to high-payload, long-reach palletising duties. The product, tool and layout determine the final selection.

Complete cell scope

More than the robot arm.

We connect the mechanical, electrical, control and safety elements required to make the application work in production.

01

Pallet pattern review

Model products and required layers before fixing the cell concept.

02

Robot and base

Select payload and reach with the gripper, top layer and all pick points included.

03

Purpose-built gripper

Secure handling designed around the actual package and production environment.

04

Conveyors and pallet flow

Bring products and pallets to the robot and move completed loads away.

05

Guarding and access

Protect the robot envelope while allowing pallet changes and maintenance.

06

Commissioning

Prove formats, patterns, line interfaces, fault recovery and operator procedures.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about this robot system

What products can a robot palletise?

Common products include boxes, cases, bags, bottles, containers and trays. Suitability depends on product stability, surface, mass, gripping features and the required pallet pattern.

Can one robot palletise more than one production line?

Potentially. The required rate, line positions, buffering, product mix and gripper strategy determine whether a shared robot is practical.

Can pallet patterns be changed?

Yes. Patterns and formats can be recipe-driven, provided the reach, tool, product flow and load stability support each required configuration.

Do you include conveyors and guarding?

Oxford Industrial Automation can engineer the wider cell, including product conveyors, pallet handling, end-of-arm tooling, controls, guarding, installation and commissioning.
